The harvest: An unflustered vintage 2015
Harvesting on the William Fèvre domaine kicked off on 3 September
Our immediate priority was to bring in the grapes from the vineyards which had just been hit by hail …
We therefore started with the Les Clos, La Montée de Tonnerre and Les Montmains parcels, in order to save the weakened grapes and preserve the quality of the wines.
We are seeing a loss of harvest volume of between 15 to 30% on these crus, but the pressed juices were very clean, which is a good indicator for quality winemaking
We then continued with the harvesting of the Domaine’s other plots: Vaudésir, Valmur, etc..
The vines which escaped the bad weather have produced grapes of exceptional quality with nice degrees.
It would appear that the hail storms will only have resulted in a loss of volume, without having affected the quality of the wines.
A great vintage is on its way….
