Grapevines are flowering
The cool and humid spring slowed down the growth of vegetation. However the coming of sunshine transformed the vineyards. The first grape blossoms can be seen in our Grand Cru Bougros “Côte Bouguerots” plot.
This period is a particularly tricky one in the winegrower’s schedule when this small white flower blossoms and hangs heavy in the air alongside the hills for a fortnight. Each fertilized flower will form a berry. Its occurrence is considered to be a reliable indicator for the assessment of the picking date that is usually expected to begin 100 days later.
This year, the blooming was not perfectly homogeneous according to the areas because of the weather conditions. Nevertheless, this crucial period developed in a satisfactory way on the whole.
